You can’t do without a bottle

Plastic bottles are an excellent material for various DIY projects. They are especially widely used by gardeners and vegetable growers. Here are some useful ideas.

Cut plastic bottles can be used for growing strawberries. The bottom part of the bottle with holes in the bottom serves as a container for the plant, which is partially buried in the soil. The top part of the bottle with the bottom cut off is used as a mini-greenhouse covering the plant from above.

The bottom halves of plastic bottles make excellent containers for seedlings. Young plants are planted in them, and inverted top parts of bottles with the bottom cut off serve as individual mini-greenhouses or protective caps for each plant.

To combat pests, you can make an insect trap. The bottom half of a plastic bottle is buried in the soil. A cross-shaped wooden frame is installed above its opening, which increases the surface area of the trap.

In autumn, hanging insect traps can be hung on trees. They are made from a plastic bottle cut horizontally in half. A fibrous material (tow or dry moss) is placed inside. The two halves are fastened with a spirally bent steel wire, and the entire structure is hung on a tree branch.

It’s easy to make a bird feeder from a plastic bottle. The bottom is cut off the bottle, it is attached horizontally to a wooden stake or tree branch. A perch is attached to the bottle, on which birds sit to peck food from the bottle opening.

For watering plants, you can make a DIY sprinkler — “light rain”. A spherical bottom of a plastic bottle is used, which is connected to a garden hose. Numerous holes with a diameter of 1 mm are made in the surface of the bottle with a hot awl, through which water is sprayed, creating a light rain effect.

A summer shower will also come in handy at the dacha. A plastic bottle makes an excellent shower head, made in a hurry. Holes are made in the side surface of the bottle, it is connected to a garden hose and attached to a vertical post or pipe. You get an excellent shower head.
