THE SADDLE AND THE HANDLEBARS — HELPERS PEDALS“Dear editors!

Read in issue No. 7 article “Reinvent the wheel!”, long thought, what I’d like to see him. The picture I painted your project…”

“I read an interesting article about bikes. It is very good that the magazine raises the question of their modernization. I both hands “for”.

A lot of such letters of response to the article B. Nevskogo “Reinvent the wheel!” was received by the editorial office after the exit No. 7 “M-K”; the stream continues to go today. Readers of all ages, many professions, residents near and far cities and villages to share their thoughts about the development of this modest but, it turns out, such a need of transport.

We thank all the authors of the letters and replies “M-K”. In subsequent issues, the editors will publish the results of the questionnaire and will introduce you to the most interesting proposals and designs.

With some reading development we introduce you today.

This is, perhaps, the only known Bicycle, to which bad roads even way. Bumps and potholes that lie on the path, author, machine, engineer, Moscow power engineering Institute Evgeny Egorov was forced to “work”: energy shocks converted the seat to stick in an additional energy of motion.

More. This bike is not only the seat, but the steering wheel helps the pedals; shaking him as a rocker, rotate the front wheel that facilitates movement and allows much increase the speed.

Drive system the rear wheels.

Designer for almost three years goes to his bike, and all this time the nodes are working properly.

On the question of what prompted him to “reinvent the wheel”, Evgeny Egorov answers in one word: stubbornness. I wanted to increase the speed capabilities of the bike, to ease the gradients, and for that mere physical strength is not enough. Had to show engineering ingenuity.

Although skeptics with their usual peremptory propose to stop such invention and even came up with a teaser for the inventors of the Bicycle, anyway, this car remains a fertile material for the engineering-minded. Not without reason in “Bulletin of inventions” and the popular science journals consistently publish materials about new improvements to the bike.

In particular, in the “Modeller-designer” read Evgeny Egorov article about the unusual bike Kharkiv V. Dutov, who received pjatnadtsatiminutnogo increase speed with additional drive on the front wheel from the pedals mounted on the steering wheel.

However Gutowski hand drive Eugene seemed imperfect. First, the synchronisation of feet and hands very quickly tiring of the athlete. Second, rotating the pedals the steering wheel, the rider is constantly “bows”; also, in a certain phase when this occurs a braking torque. Thirdly, Gutowski bike completely lost the handbrake, and this will agree, a minus.

Evgeny Egorov fundamentally new decided scheme manual drive. He made the wheel strut and forced him to swing through the connecting rod-crank mechanism to convert these oscillations into rotary motion of the front sprocket.

However, as we know, standardising mechanism has a significant disadvantage — the so-called dead point. The chain transmission does not guarantee their free overcome. Therefore, the author invented a mechanism that takes care of that crank on smoothly.

The device is an elliptical Cam, is compressed on two sides spring-loaded rollers. All the rules of mechanics, the rollers are constantly striving to set on the minor axis of the ellipse, and in this position the crank is beyond dead point.

Having received a substantial boost of speed, Eugene was not satisfied. He thoroughly studied the literature on vilasobroso and found that nobody thought: is it possible to use the energy of the shaking — because she is wasted when riding on rough roads. Obstacles lying in the way, throw the “crew” up. And it is necessary that they “pushed” him forward.

As the energy storage device, the inventor used a powerful tape spring. He “Packed” it in the drum, such as those that exist in the mechanisms with the clockwork device, and placed under the saddle.

The main part of vibrational energy usually takes the rear wheel. So Eugene made him Autonomous suspension triangle frame. At the top put the star, which at the time of shaking through the circuit drives the clockwork mechanism. And that the chain was taut, it was necessary to put one more star, attributing it to spring with the frame.

Clockwork mechanism is arranged so that, in whatever direction or spinning the sprocket to its drive system, the spring is constantly twisted.

The stored energy with a large toothed wheel of the drum through a system of sprockets is transmitted to the rear wheel.

I went on a bike Eugenia Egorova. Loved it. Twist whether the pedal, if the wheel shake or just a little bounce on the seat (for lack of pits and bumps, as the tests were carried out on the pavement), the car all the time is rushing forward.
