Spearfishing in waters with complex bottom relief and limited transparency of water has its own characteristics: no time to restore the gun, nowhere to maneuver. Rifle, currently available in the sale, for such conditions uncomfortable. Which is preferable underwater guns. Of the known types of such weapons is most suitable — capsule. Their main advantage is that when fired the harpoon at the impulse of several hundred kilograms, in contrast to the guns of other systems where the force on the harpoon does not exceed tens of kilograms. Accordingly vary the speed of the harpoon. The advantages of cap and ball pistols can be attributed to the ease of loading.
I want to offer the readers of “M-K” design of such a cap and ball pistol. I successfully hunted for about three years on the lakes where spearfishing is allowed.
Figure 1 shows the full breakdown of the gun. It is designed to break apart type. The barrel is pressed into the breech and additionally fixed by pins. The barrel screws are fixed sight and front sight. At the bottom of the latter, there is a hook with a hole for Lin.
Charged the breech is between the cheeks of the mast and held in this position by the latch through the liner. The latter is linked to the mast with rivets. The retainer is held in position by a spring mounted on the axis.

Percussion mechanism consists of a striker with tip, insert, and chips, and also of directing the drummer, mounted on the handle with the screw. For the passage of water at the moment of shot at the sides of the guide nasverlennye holes Ø 2-3 mm.
The trigger mechanism serves for fixing of the projectile in the cocked position and for dumping Lin in the moment of shooting. The trigger and sear are on the axles pressed into the bottom plate of the handle and connected with each other. To release the hook suspended from a pull and return spring, the second end of which is fixed axis. The fuse has two fixed positions. The most successful host of the gun, in my opinion, is a staple-extractor. It is soldered with solder POS-40 to the carriage. Thanks to the clip, the capsule is automatically retrieved from the trunk.
Preparing the gun to fire. When allocating chips back until it stops under its own weight of barrel with breech is rotated by 90° around the axis. Then cocked the hammer. The trigger is placed on the fuse. Inserting the capsule half in the barrel, the breech is rotated around the axis. The capsule is fully included in the trunk, and the base it will be between a mast and antennae brackets. Lin wound between the hook and fly rod.

For the shot you need to take the safety trigger and click on it. It also resets the Lin down the hammer. After the shot follows pulling the hammer, trigger lock, with the thumb of the left hand to take a chip all the way to the side of arm and palm of the same hand to rotate the barrel around the axis. Due to the mustache staples extraction, the capsule POPs out of the trunk.
The use of primer “zhevelo” provides a range of up to three meters. To isolate from water the capsule pre-daubed clay or paraffin. The use of the cartridge (Fig. 2) to increase range up to 10 m, depending on the dosage of the gunpowder. When you use this cartridge it is advisable to use a barrel with thicker walls, and greater length. Long harpoon will allow you to also shoot more accurately. The spear tip needs to be symmetrical relative to its axis, since even a slight deviation from symmetry leads to a distortion of the trajectory of the harpoon.
