I love tinkering and doing this for a long time; in many ways helps your magazine. So I decided to share my humble experience. A few years ago, designed his own house table. I don’t even know how to call it — whether coffee, whether still any. The fact is that as a way it has not been used! And a TV stood on it, and radio, and had Breakfast on it, and dined, and played. He is still in excellent condition.
In my opinion, industrial tables, such as this lose in rigidity, reliability and ease of construction, not to mention, of course, price. Durability is ensured in this case due to the strong box-shaped underframes (see Fig.), made of boards or chipboard, which in the simplest case, fastened together with screws, planted on the glue, and the desire and ability you can connect them to the round plug-in thorns, also with glue.
To the top (det.1) box can also be attached on the spikes or metal parts of suitable size (not shown on drawings). You can also use the furniture Assembly area.
If desired, the base is allowed to use more actively, having arranged under the top box, which is enough only to add the horizontal panel-bottom. But then you have to do the tabletop lifting or sliding, which would complicate the design of the table.
A support table supports (det.3) are attached to the box on the screws with glue, and to the lower base (bottom table) with the spikes (in these places is possible and additional reinforcement points, which for the example shown in the left view).

When used as the main material particleboard sure all the panels are painted with enamel or oil paints (for environmental requirements to use the DSP in a residential area), and the ability to — foniruyutsya thin veneer on the glue.
Everything else is clear from the figure. Of course, the provider remains the right to choose the material (can be used not just particle Board) and connection method details.
Another small remark. If you place the furniture wheels of the specified size, the table will be less stable and, thus, inconvenient to use; and if too close to the edges of the bottom of the table — can suffer appearance.
