DURABLE TENT

Undoubtedly of interest to many tourists are the publication of the journal “modelist-Konstruktor”. But they mainly describe the various vehicle designs and less emphasis on other essential Hiking things: tents, backpacks and the like. In recent time there appeared a large number of tents’ in industrial production, a variety of designs. However, tourists still have a desire to make your “camp house” on their own. The more that today to purchase the necessary materials has become much easier, and sewn at home, it is much (two to three times) cheaper than purchased.

 

While designing, we proceeded from the following criteria: maximum comfort with minimum weight. As one, shared the tent easier several single and it is less hassle with the installation, the size of her bottom was chosen as 2×2 m. On this square are arranged three tourist peoplemover Mat, are four people (with backpacks). Although “reloading” is possible overnight and five, and even six of them!

 

The maximum height of the tent is 1.6 m, allowing you to sit and change. Straight sides (walls) we did a height of 0.3 m, so you can lie down without touching the sloping roof. Increase or decrease the height of the tent and the sides is impractical because increases the first weight and the second reduces the comfort.

The unusual shape of the roof in the form of a pyramid. This roof is not very difficult to manufacture and requires less material (hence less weight and cost) than a conventional hip or gable.

 

The entrance to the tent is made in the form of a tube. It is easier and safer than a clasp on “lightning” or buttons, and most importantly, well protected from insects, which many in Central Russia in the summer. The diameter of the tube equal to the height of the front wall at the entrance; on his left, on the wall, window, overcast fine mesh.

In the manufacture of tents used exclusively nylon materials that ensure its high strength, durability (two years of intensive use, there was no damage!) a small weight of about two kilograms.

 

Roof, tube and the front wall is made of a thin, slightly blown nylon fabric (like parachute).

The bottom and sides are made of nylon medium thickness with treatment and protect sleepers from wind and rain. We would not recommend to use for the bottom of the tent completely waterproof materials. They are good, when the room is completely isolated from the rain. However, if water gets inside the tent turns into a sort of bath.

 

The fabric was cut with a hot soldering iron with a pointy tip, giving a smooth cut without “Makhrov”. Preform tadalis linen stitch on a conventional sewing machine nylon thread. Four seam connecting the edge of the roof, inserted a nylon cord. It is necessary because the cutting of the workpiece is at an angle to the threads and the fabric highly stretches.

The top of the roof sheathed reinforcing plate (boat) with a diameter of 15 cm from two layers of fabric. Loops for attaching braces tents (14) is made of nylon cord and sewn on to their seats through the reinforcing strip of fabric in the size 5×3 cm

 

The cord is inserted in the cut of a tube for tightening. The top and sides at the base of the tube is sewn simple devices allowing you to mount it in the clear. They consist of a rope loop attached to the inside, and a small (length about 100 mm) of cords with buttons-pins on the outside.

 

An important advantage of our tent — easy to install. One person can put her for a time not exceeding five minutes. Used a total of 13 pegs: first four pegs and stretched the bottom, then rises to the roof one way or another and, finally, the rope stays attached to the wall the vertical position and the roof — a uniform tension on all faces.

 

Last but not least —in case of rain on the tent snaps a waterproof awning. As the tent we usually use a large piece of plastic film.
