LuAZ-969МSerial production of the new car called ZAZ-969В began in 1966 in Lutsk machine building plant (1967 — Lutsk automobile plant). The car was designed in KB of Zaporozhye automobile building plant, so the name of the machine at first, appeared abbreviation ZAZ.

At first utilitarian car was produced only in front-wheel version, and in 1969, when LUAZ production of mechanisms to drive the rear wheels, with the conveyor began to descend and all-wheel drive cars. In 1975, the LUAZ was equipped with a new 40-horsepower engine. The first in our country the mass of the compact four-wheel drive vehicle quickly gained popularity due to its amazing terrain. Contributed to this short, we only 1800 wheelbase, small overhangs and substantial ground clearance 280 mm, and the use of wheeled gear.
 
Mini jeep is equipped with dual-circuit braking system with amplifier in the front circuit. Front and rear brakes — drum. Steering gear — worm type. Model with engine MeMZ-969А produced until 1990, had a body of improved design with new front fascia and glazing. Salon got more comfortable hunting seat.
 
In 1979 began production of the improved machine, received index 969М. In 1990 the plant started production of the car LUAZ-1302 engine: MeMZ-245 power 53 HP (as Tavria ZAZ-1102). Suspension Luisa-1302 — independent torsion bar, trailing arms.
 
LuAZ-969М: length 3430 mm, width-1610 mm, height 1754 mm, wheelbase 1800 mm, working volume of the engine 1,091 l, engine power 53 HP, weight/total weight 970/1370 kg.
