TRUCK-SCARCE

CART-BOYFor a long time I enjoyed long ago acquired by manual uniaxial shopping cart (unfortunately, information about the manufacturer not preserved). But remember, in the passport on the cart was given data: load capacity — 25 kg weight — 6.5 kg. the Trolley is made, that is, the conscience, the design is reliable, very simple moves from transport to working position, and it happens that I’m on it loads up to 50 kg, that is twice the nameplate figure. Now it is clear that the manufacturer of the truck was safe and resulted in low capacity, as the possibility of a much larger truck. The developer could specify the actual value of the load capacity, but it was necessary to test truck durability.

It should be noted that the hand truck is manufactured under the motto “Faster, higher, further!”, therefore, an important indicator led intuitive, “eyeball”. The experience of operating the truck gave me the idea that the capacity of 25 kg will provide a design with smaller dimensions and less metal. In line with this, the product should be inexpensive, have low weight and to occupy a folded up very little space. Given that their Guest (“solid rubber Tyres”) the parameters can easily be identified that full load in 25 kg withstands very small bus disc type with a diameter of 40…60 mm and a rim width of 20 mm. Finally the design is “ripe” in my head after reading in the journal “modelist-Konstruktor” No. 11, 1989, notes a “Triangle-cart” on the application of the cane to control the hand truck. In the end I managed to solve the technical problem, adding to the lineup of hand trucks yet another product.

Fig. 1. Manual household mini-truck increased load capacity:

1—crank; 2—pole (cutting spade for d40); 3—suspension; 4—clip (steel, sheet s2); 5—angled bracket (steel, sheet s); 6—screw (04×16, 5 PCs); 7—steel rivet (d4x10, 2); 8—arc backrest; 9—load bar; 10—pair of wheels with axle

Designed and manufactured a truck to use for four years. She moves very well on the asphalt surface, slightly worse on the compacted dirt road.

In the original version, one-piece wheels with a diameter of 50 mm I made from aluminum alloy D16T, and immediately revealed the disadvantage — when driving wheels vibrate and make noise. So was made another version of the wheels, a composite of two parts: the hub of polyethylene and tire rubber with high hardness. Because the greater hardness has a tyre, the greater its carrying capacity and the lower the rolling resistance of the wheel. The hardness of the rubber shall be 60.. .75 units shore.

Fig. 2. Chassis:

1 — tire (rubber 1F-I-MBS, sheet s20,2); 2—hub (plastic, 2 pieces); 3 —frame (steel, sheet s1,5); 4—arc of the backrest (steel, sheet s); 5—the load bar (steel, sheet s3); 6—axis (steel, circle 6); 7—mount the wheels on the axle (special nut M6, 2pcs); 8—joint hinge arches (steel rivet d4x10, 2 PCs.); 9—distance washer (2 PCs); 10—anti-friction washer (plastic, sheet s5,5, 2 PCs.)

Now more about the product, which I named “Dolly baby” because of the small size and weight only 1.1 kg.

Manual single-axle truck (Fig. 1) consists of a handle 1 with a tongue 2 that is attached to the chassis 3 by a plate 4 and a square 5. As blanks for the tiller, used the stalk without branches for a shovel. The diameter of the stalk was reduced to 33 mm, prostrogat a plane, and then carefully polished with sandpaper.

Chassis (Fig. 2) consists of a frame 3, two wheels with tires, axle 6, and two nested in each other arcs, one external, the back 4, and another arc is load platform 5 (folded for carrying the hides into the opening in the back). Frame 3 made of steel sheet 1.5 mm thick. During the manufacture of the truck I came across an announcement about the service one company in laser cutting of sheet metal. In my order, the firm cut on the laser unit billet frame and two arcs and bent them in accordance with the drawing.

Fig. 3. Arm:

1 —shackle (steel wire d5); 2—slip plate (steel sheet s2,2); 3—the plug (hardwood); 4—handle (purchased product); 5—limiter (with a scythe nut M5 washer, 2); 6—cotter pin (a nail d1 2×25, 2 PCs.)

The handles (Fig. 3) I bought plastic handle 4, which is designed for installation on the straps of the bags that they “do not cut” hands when carrying heavy loads. In the groove of this purchase handles enclosed handle 1 and fixed a wooden plug 3 by means of two locking pins 6 of the nails (coming out of the pen body, the ends of the nails should bend and drown). The ends of the handles, after putting on on them overhead plate 2 and tightening the lock nuts 5, rasklapanje. The handle is secured to the drawbar by four screws with clamp plates.

For transporting cargo on the truck preferably positioned vertically along the long side of the drawbar. If the load rigid wall (e.g., a suitcase), then you link it to the cart. When using bags with semi-rigid sidewalls I did not even tie. Bag fixed itself under the weight of the cargo: first, the narrow side edges of the cargo arc bottom she is a bit rumpled and hanging off the sides of the court; secondly, a drawbar, which sidewall is also slightly wrinkled, and this prevents slipping of the bag.
