TRUCK OF THE TENANTTransform an old truck motorcycle IZH-type I was going for a long time. At first I wanted to make something like a scooter “Ant” (like the truck, by the way, once told a “M-K”). However, the design was unreasonably heavy and bulky. And besides, it needed a massive differential or, in extreme cases, overrunning clutch, and to build all this in the country, in a home workshop, it was pure utopia.
After many sketches and test options for a simplified large-scale models, I came to the conclusion that the most simple and feasible scheme will be wheeled malogruzovaja body, located in front of the driver. This arrangement does not require any changes to the design of the motorcycle itself: it is a compact cargo block docking to the frame Property instead of the front fork.
The basis of cargo unit were two regular “Izhevsk” front fork Assembly with wheels; however, instead, it is possible to take relevant units from any other motorcycles and scooters.
The Assembly unit is best done by the method of the stacker fitting. On flat ground with wooden pads set motorcycle (no front fork). This must be done precisely, securing the frame in a vertical position (when viewed from the front). It is also necessary to ensure the normal motorcycle position, at the sight of it from the side, which I recommend to pre-measure the distance from floor to the bottom of the frame and then to pick up the lining the same thickness.
Then with the help of simple wooden trestles and clamps are attached to the floor two motorcycle fork; it is necessary to provide them with the same angle of inclination as that of the base of the steering column of the motorcycle, and also the same distance from the floor to the top of each bridge plug as standard Izha. It is also important to accurately maintain a distance between the front and rear axles of malogruzovaja and perpendicular to the axis of the front axle to the longitudinal axis of the motorcycle. The easiest way to do this is by measuring and comparing the distance between nuts of fastening of a wheel: the right front and rear, and left front and rear. Of course, the longitudinal axis of the front wheels should be parallel to the axis of the motorcycle.
To the steering column of the motorcycle is attached to the node, consisting of two standard bridges and two steel pipes with a diameter of about 40 mm, is inserted in openings of bridges in place of the supporting pipe and secured to them by welding. In the lower part of the pipe are curved, while the space fold increase welded steel gussets. Then these same tubes for welding are mounted two cross cut from the steel channel 3Х40Х60 mm, which in the future will be enshrined in the body of malogruzovaja.
The next step is to fit the connecting elements connecting the Central node with the front forks. First of all, to the forks fitted to the sleeve, which should be constructive with a copy of the motorcycle steering column. Further, from the pipes with an external diameter of about 40 mm and a length of 1350 mm bend two arcs; they then use the scarves from steel sheet of thickness 2.5 mm primatyvajutsja several welding points to the Central node and the steering column left and right forks. After carefully checking the correct installation of wheel nodes is the final welding.
To provide a rigid connection of the cargo block frame of the bike, you need to install the four strut: the lower pair connects the lower mount of the motorcycle engine and pipes of the Central unit and the upper pair of braces — the top node of the engine mounts and steering columns to the right and left wheel assemblies. For fastening of the struts serve as a U-shaped fork, mounted right and left on the threaded studs that secures the engine to the frame of the motorcycle. The same U-shaped forks are welded to the steering column and the pipes of the Central node. The struts represent the segments of steel tubes with a diameter of about 25 mm with welded to their ends of the steel bushings. The length of the struts is determined locally. In principle, it would be better to have the struts at the design of these tenders, to be able to adjust their length for more precise orientation of a cargo unit relative to the motorcycle.
The steering in this truck, in essence, is the same as the bike, although used steering column from the old bike. It is installed at the Central node of the truck unit together with the steering shaft (to the bottom of it is welded oneplace lever: with rubber mounted bushings tie rods).

It is desirable that the tie rods were also adjustable (like the thunder), but a careful adjustment in several steps (tack, control, welding) is quite acceptable and hard.
The body of malogruzovaja, with dimensions of 0. 35X0. 8X0,9 m, assembled from plywood 12 mm thick, using as a connecting element dural corners 2X40X40 mm screws and M5 nuts. Note that the angles are installed on both the inside and the outside of the body: the connection is very strong and rigid. The same banded corners and edges of boards.
I recommend you first completely assemble the body, then disassemble twice to cover the plywood with hot linseed oil its parts and then paint them in two or three layers of alkyd enamel. After drying the body is assembled and installed on the crossmember of the Central node of the truck unit.
If necessary, the body can be done samoopredeleniya what the front crossmember will have to shift closer to the center of gravity of the loaded body and set it on the hinge. On the bottom are fixed two longitudinal members made of wooden bars section 60X60 mm; front Board when it is hung on the hinges.
Management system malogruzovaja is almost the same as for the generic motorcycle. The only difference is that the connection of the front brake lever with the levers of the Cams brake drum by means of the equalizer, although in principle it is possible to do a single rear brake.
Lights are also fully consistent with the baseline motorcycle, although there are two lights instead of one; but their connection does not cause any difficulties.
