Intensive wear of the tracks occurs when operating a Bicycle on unpaved roads because of the dust in the bottom bracket.
The easiest way to restore the mechanism to replace the damaged parts or the Assembly. It is, as a rule, do in repair shops. But such a solution unlikely to be acceptable to a prudent of homebrew, which I will try to return to life staff details.
Carriage shaft it will protocil to 15 mm in diameter almost the entire length, leaving only one side of the place to install the connecting rod from the drive sprocket. This size corresponds to the diameter of the inner hole of bearings series 202. Repaired thus carriage mechanism often works to “write-off” bike, but too much to eat through, cutting off all cemented layer of the shaft, and a flatted groove under the wedge remains very small. So I did a little differently, though without turning too, was not. Bored through the damaged tracks cones carriage shaft shallow grooves with a radius of 4 mm for balls with a diameter of 8 mm (more precisely, 7.94 mm) so that the diameter of the shaft neck under the grooves was 14 mm. the Beads are taken from two old bearings 204.
