SPLIT MISSILE

SPLIT MISSILECzechoslovak athlete A. Turnips became the winner of the world championship held in 1978 in Bulgaria. He performed with the model missiles S-6-A. the Distinctive feature of his model — longitudinal connector housings. The model of this design was the only one in competition for the duration of the flight tape.

Case — paper, glued the two spiral shaped ribbon on the mandrel Ø 13.5 mm. After drying, it is cut lengthwise into two halves (“shells”). Fairing of balsa is cut, as shown in figure 1, and glued into the case halves. Inside each “egg shells” at a distance of 50 mm from the bottom edge of the balsa is fixed focus, at the same time serving and lock to the housing. Make it a suggest in the form of a stepped cylinder Ø 13,5 and 11 mm. It is also cut along in two and glued each to the “shells”. The halves in two places attached the threads that connect to the suspension unit.

Stabilizers (three of them) are made of balsa medium density, thickness of 0.8 mm.

Guide rings made of aluminum wire Ø 0.8 mm is glued to the hull with epoxy.

Brake band (streamer) size 1000X100 mm — silk — for rigidity varnished. Weight tape — 4.

The entire model is covered with two layers of nitrocellulose lacquer has a smooth surface. Its weight without a motor 9 g.

Start preparation is performed as follows. The tape, folded like an accordion, placed in one of the “shells” of the case, and then impose the second. The bottom stick the engine that its upper part is on two half-cylinder (stop) that prevent inadvertent disclosure. Engine pre-thin cable is connected to the node of the suspension model. In flight, after work expelling charge, the engine crashes. The case splits into two halves, is released and brake band. Figure 2 shows how the model looks in parachutism flight.
