TRANSATLANTICA prototype of the proposed model-polyopia was a unique motor speed the ship Des-triero. Built by Italian club “Costa Smeraldo”, it was intended for a single purpose — to beat the speed record for transatlantic crossing, owned since 1990 no less unique boat Hoverspeed Great Britain. Great work on designing and developing unique vessel was done by the Italians with success: Destriero has passed the way from England to new York in 58 hours 34 minutes and 50 seconds, thus putting a new world record.

The boat (so to call such a large ship, seems only possible with some reservations) — “transatlantic” has a length of 67 m, an overall height of about 13 m; on Board as the power plant — three turbines with a capacity of over 50, OOO HP Despite the large size, the overall design of the “champion” is quite easy and pleasant, which, of course, gives modelers an overwhelming desire to play it. What we help by publishing the drawings and description of the boats, made to a scale of 1:100.
Built and tested by Czech athletes of the RC model has a frame body formed by six frames cut from 3-mm plywood and pine strips-stringers. Almost all longitudinal elements of the frame — typical cross section of 3×3 mm. the Only exception is the keel rail section 2×5 mm, set on edge and joined during Assembly with the nasal tip. The latter is also cut from 3-mm plywood.

Thanks to the absolutely smooth surface of the deck polyopia parts of the frame are mounted in a single unit on a flat Board-the slipway at the position of the body upside down. Prior to Assembly on the slipway prick accurate drawing in natural size, which is protected by a thin transparent film. Frame Assembly is a relatively simple, but requires great attention and precision. Particular care should be taken to install and set under engine bulkhead, deflected from the vertical angle of 7.5°. All the stringers you can pull up to the cross set without steaming, since the contours of the body even in the bow is very smooth. But Reiki is a cross section of 3×3 mm, glued on the sides of the keel parts, still it is helpful to first soak it in warm water, then pin it in position on the stocks recorded in the ribs and dry. Installation of preformed pricilia stringers will allow to avoid deformation of the frame after removing it from the pile. Do note that to connect all the parts best epoxy glue as the most durable and moisture resistant.
It should be borne in mind that pricillia stringers ahead of the case are much above the lower edge of the bow tip. After applying the bottom shell elements, there is formed a pronounced keel plate, which is undesirable due to the deterioration of the stability of the course ahead. Therefore, this area is cemented with a mixture of glue and sawdust, and after drying of the composition is carefully processed with the use of intermediate templates to obtain a smooth transition from the keel to the bottom (in accordance with the contours of the vessel of the prototype with the nose a greater deadrise, designed to mitigate the impacts of the housing at maximum speed on large waves; this technique is profiling the case useful and for-models, which greatly affects the scale factor).
Before gluing the plating in the hull place all parts of the plant and check the alignment of the deadwood and engine later will make it much harder, not to mention possible fixes. If everything is in order, proceed to the skin. Its cut out from the balsa veneer with a thickness of 2 mm and consistently adhered to attached to the bench frame. Sheathed in the body mount attachment points side of the radio control equipment, tubular hinge, rudder, and deck — a set of stringers for fixing front cover matousek and optional add-ons-logging. Us system of numerous strips seemed overly complicated, however in the original drawings corrections were made (carefully looking at the pictures, you will understand how implemented plug). I just want to note that this is not the only solution, as the construction of the entire superstructure-cutting, which is much more easily reproduced in the same scale variant from sheet plastic. External finish of the model is carried out in accordance with traditional technologies.

Czech polyopia used two versions of the plant. One of them (better known to our sportsmen and components of nodes) — engine “AIDS-600” by “Graupner”, the coupling of the company “Horst”, and two-bladed propeller with a diameter of 35 mm with a relative step of 0.85 A. the power batteries of the seven elements has a voltage of 8.4 V, the charge capacity 1.2 A • h; it is enough for 10-15 minutes of running without reloading. The engine management system — any available type, although the best option, it is necessary to accept electronic controller WEIGHT system power supply on-Board equipment, which allows to get rid of excess weight of hardware batteries.
Running the model properties are quite good. If you debug the course useful to find the optimal alignment over the length of the housing by moving the batteries and components of the equipment at such high elongation of the vessel, this parameter has a great influence on the stability of the wave.

In conclusion, I would like to note that a record boat is perfect as a prototype not only for RC version models. Narrow long body and asks to play in the class “bramahadev”, where additional stability to progress on the course can be achieved by setting allowed by the rules of the competition scopinich the keel plates. The windage is relatively small copies is relatively small, which gives hope for high sports results even with one-shaft the engine. In a “direct-mohada”, however, as in RC, with success can be used other than suggested in the article as the modification of engines and power sources.
