Electric Vehicles: Modular Chassis & Motorcycles DIY

Crimean commuter trains

For several years now, Sevastopol inventor Dmitry Chulkov has been constructing electric vehicles. One of these is a universal modular chassis, equipped in the base configuration with a control unit, battery, and two hub motors, the power of which can vary from 1 to 3 kW. To improve ride smoothness, the module is equipped with an original hydropneumatic suspension. If you install the appropriate control unit, motorcycle fork, handlebar, and seat on it, it turns into a full-fledged tricycle (photo 1), capable of carrying cargo weighing up to 150 kg over a distance of more than 100 km. There is also an unmanned version of the chassis with a sprung parasitic front wheel and a remote control system.

Dmitry also built two electric all-wheel-drive motorcycles with increased cross-country capability. The first model (photo 2) uses motors with a rated power of 13 kW (peak 40 kW). Cruising speed is 125 km/h, and maximum reaches 150 km/h. The second motorcycle (photo 3) is equipped with hub motors with a power of 1.8 kW each. It is not as fast – maximum speed up to 95 km/h, but thanks to high-capacity batteries, its range is 300 km.
