BUCK… EXTENSION

BUCK... EXTENSIONWhen performing various jobs around the house was sometimes necessary to have on hand a source of electricity with lower than the normal network voltage. For example, to illuminate the water in the tank (to save the bulb from premature burnout of the filament), etc.

Help out in all these cases, a convenient “step-down” extension cord with two sockets, one of which is connected through the diode: it is “cut off” every negative half-wave, leaving only half the previous voltage.

To make this extension “transformer” is best based on sockets for external wiring, preferably of square shape (although other). Still need podrozetnik of insulating material (textolite, plexiglass, plywood, etc.) Outlet attach it with screws М4х30 with nuts, hole diameter 6.5 mm installing the diodes КД206Б or Д246 (and possibly the use of other types; it is only important that the maximum current which they serve, as well as the maximum reverse voltage was, respectively, less than 10 A, 400 V).

In order during operation of the extension cord do not accidentally mix up the outlets, it is desirable to have them painted in different, contrasting colors. Or at least one of the protective covers make the appropriate label.
