If your radio-controlled or control-line model has a non-removable landing gear or its size does not allow a hand launch, don’t be upset by the lack of a suitable runway nearby. A drag sled will help — it can be used both in winter and in summer. To make such “skis,” you will need a sheet of medium-thickness plywood. Glue stop blocks on the sides of the model’s wheels and behind them. Shape the front edge of the sheet like a ski and attach a boss underneath with a hole for the hook of a rubber bungee. The cross-section and length of the bungee are selected experimentally: the energy of the rubber band must be enough to accelerate the model to a speed higher than takeoff speed.
