In 1935, in the Reactive section of the CA osoaviahima of the USSR designer A. I. Polar was designed and built experimental rocket. Originally it was called “Osoaviakhim” (R-1). Subsequently, she was given the index R-06. Only manufactured ten of these missiles. After extensive bench and flight tests, during which were worked out the engine and other systems of the missiles, it August 25, 1937 was the official flight tests.
The rocket was installed liquid rocket engine (LRE) M-9 design A. I. Polar. Fuel for him were liquid oxygen and alcohol, time was 11-14, however, he developed a thrust of 40 lbs. At the time of starting of the machine the speed of the rocket reached 25 m/s; starting weight — 10 kg; maximum vieta lift — 4500 m.
Basic dimensions : length—1700 mm Ø126 mm, the amplitude of the stabilizer is 400 mm.
Made on the proposed drawings of the model R-06 refers to the classification of the FAI in the category of models (class S-5A). It is made in 1:5 scale to nature. The starting weight should be no more than 60 g. the Total impulse of the engine not more than 2.5 n·c.
Fig. 1. The scheme of experimental device of the R-06:
1 — head, 2 — body, 3 — box pipelines, 4 — parachute 5 — labyrinth seal, 6 — wadding (cotton wool or tissue paper), 7 — ring frame, 8 — lifting charge, 9 — tail cone, 10 — cage motor, 11 — motor, 12 — angles of attachment of the feathers of the stabilizer, 13 — Perot stabilizer, 14 — angles of stiffness.
A model rocket consists of three parts. The head part is carved from basswood, it is attached to the halyard exhaust chute, the housing is glued from two layers of construction paper for the tube Ø 24 mm. In this place: a parachute made of mcalenney paper wads and the labyrinth seal to eject the parachute and the head of the rocket. The tail cone is also laminated of drawing paper on a special machined mandrel. The cone is inserted the clip of the engine that is in the upper part secured with ring frames from balsa wood or cardboard. The feathers of the stabilizer made of balsa or basswood. The corners of the fasteners and the stiffness of the feathers of the stabilizer simulate paper. The box is made of balsa wood or straw, cut to the diameter.
Model covered with several layers of nitro lacquer or glue AK-20. After drying each layer body is treated with fine emery paper. The finished model painted in silver color. Black color applied studs and outline the connectors.
