Student design Bureau of the Riga red-banner Institute of civil aviation engineers named Lenin Komsomol familiar to the readers of our magazine. Development of Riga have been exhibited at Central exhibitions NTTM at ENEA USSR. Some of them — the wig and bioacoustics systems, seaplanes and apparatus for measuring motion parameters of aircrafts and trikes for agriculture told “modelist-Konstruktor”.

GLIDER OR GLIDER? Unpowered gliding flight has long attracted man. It would seem that what is easier is attached to the back wings, jumped down the mountain and … flew. Alas, many attempts to rise into the air, described in historical Chronicles, has led to success only in the late nineteenth century. The first glider was a German engineer, Otto Lilienthal, glider balance created is very dangerous to fly the aircraft. In the end, the glider of Lilienthal killed its Creator and brought a lot of trouble enthusiasts gliding flight.
In two decades of Windsurfing technical equipment of the sport has undergone many changes. Through the efforts of enthusiasts Board sailing from clumsy boats, is a conventional surf surfer with a sail attached, turned into a projectile, embodying the latest achievements of Aero – and hydrodynamics and constructed of materials that previously were used only in aerospace engineering, for example, carbon fiber and Kevlar.

Recently outboard motor was held in high esteem by the water-tourists. However, in recent years a large part of the waters became inaccessible for boats with internal combustion engines. Once again had to recall the sail, to once again take up the oars — Many, however, are not satisfied with traditional propulsion with a muscular drive efficiency the same oars is not too high. No wonder at the time, the paddle wheels were literally pushed by a propeller.
Our magazine has already talked about year-round windsurfer, is able with equal success to move on the water, snow and ice (see “M-K” № 11, 1987).
Our magazine was one of the main popularizers of the recently introduced family of ATVs — vehicles for low pressure tires. All season, excellent permeability, the ability not to disturb the vegetation when moving through the forest or the tundra — the dignity of vehicles of this type immediately attracted the attention of lovers of Amateur technical creativity. And after the publication of the drawings one of the most successful designs — terrain vehicle “Harp” Vyacheslav Laukhina (see “M-K” № 5, 1984) — in our country there were hundreds of machines of the same scheme.
